Davis Vision Signs Charitable Partners

General Discussion No Comments

Davis Vision has signed on three new charitable organizations as partners to team up with Davis Vision Sight From America, its international outreach program that donates eyeglass frames to organizations that deliver eyewear and other materials to impoverished communities. As a result, donations of thousands of eyeglass frames will be received four times a year. The new partners include Massachusetts-based VOSH International, Global Health Ministry, based in Pennsylvania and Virginia-based Physicians for Peace, according to an announcement from Davis Vision.

“Our chapters are so thankful for this partnership with Davis Vision,” said Greg Pearl, president of VOSH International. “This program will bring vision to thousands of poor people worldwide.”

As part of the new relationship, Davis Vision will donate several thousand frames each quarter to its new partners, ensuring that the organizations have ongoing supplies of eyeglass frames for their international missions in South and Central America and the Philippines. The donated frames are paired with prescription lenses and will impact the lives of individuals by helping them to lead normal lives, read, advance their education and prevent future eye health problems from occurring.

Nearly 200,000 people worldwide have received assistance through Sight From America since its inception in 2008, and donated frames represent a retail value of more than $20 million. In 2011 alone, $7.2 million worth of frames have been donated. Davis Vision regularly donates eyewear to such places as Kenya, Honduras, El Salvador and Ghana on as as-needed basis.
